QWAK,DUCK has KITTENS -- news at 11 :)

QWAK, Last evening I made STEAk and as usual share a little with the cat and the dog BUT Cat-Trena did not come runing as she usualy does -- she loves steak! Later that evening I called offering CHEESE -- she loves CHEESE too No Cat -Trena -- HUMmmmmmmm I suspected she may have found her self a den to have her kittens in and I was right:yes::36_1_25:

A fiberglass wrap for the filter on the DUCK POND I had removed -- she decided was better than the NICE NEST I had built for her!:shine:

There are 7 or 8 :15_1_70v: little bitty kitties in there and Cat-trena looks tired and exhausted from her labor but ALL seem OK best I can tell so far!:4_1_72::shine:

7 or 8 kittens :36_1_25::36_1_25::111: the DUCK NEST is going to be PURE BEDLUM this summer!:confused_m::36_1_25::4_1_72::shine:

Cat-trena got breakfast in bed -- milk ,steak, cheese and dry cat food -- the DUCK got a BIG suprise with my morning coffee!!!:s1:

The DOG don't know yet :452: he will have a lot of adjusting to do!:36_1_25::111::cry1::shine: ME TOO!:15_1_70v:

My ability to link pictures is messed up and I need a puter GEEK to find and fix the problem!!!

She is busy cleaning them and her self and in and out of her den snacking on her breakfast then back to playing mother!:shine:

I knew she had a lot of CAT FUR in there to make KITTEN britches -- just did not realise HOW much CAT FUR she had in there!:452::111::4_1_72::shine:

It is a whole lot more FUN watching her on TV than FOX NEWS and the economic calamidy going on!:shine:

I can only IMAGIN :thinkey: that once they start investigating there new world that the DUCK NEST will be TOTAL INSANITY!:confused_m::yes: mostly the FUN kind I hope!:shine:

Flap, Duck,

Glad they are still OK.

Here, I found this, some help with the lingo, or are you going to teach them to quack?

This one is really cute. I watched it, took about an hour!

Cats, demanding? Never! Your translation of Zahir's yanging last night was correct 'me, me, me'! You are lucky it is not 8 Turkish Angora kittens or you would be insane! :36_1_25:I found one was more than enough

6 is BETTER than 8!!! 2 or 3 would have been even BETTER!:shine:

Karma cut me some SLACK!:hahaha::yes::111:

Re: QWAK,DUCK has KITTENS -- news at 11 :)

Watch out wearing shorts. Sometimes kittens mistake bare legs for tree trunks they should scamper up with their built in pitons. :111:

But that is a month or 2 down the line.

Really watch out for them picking a potty for themselves. Once chosen and smelling like a potty they are hard to convince that that corner of the living room is not their god given outhouse, but if they start off going outside or to an indoor box, that sticks too.

OMG they are so adorable. Yep, a crazy house, but fun. Consider spaying the girls because 50 comes soon and 50 isn't fun.

If Cat-trena were mine I would find other homes for all but 3 or 4 max. The official organizations have gotten so nosey you can get good homes for free healthy kittens, though you have to be a little nosey yourself so they don't end up sold to labs. We did not permit more than one per home or give to anyone who seemed overanxious to get them, and we gave to families or couples. And we were sneaky to let them ask for more than one to see if they would. We think we got 2 calls from creeps who did want to sell them. One we refused and I told the wife 'now he will have a buddy call and ask for 1'. Bingo! About 3 minutes later a woman called and wanted to pick one up within the hour. Too much of a hurry was the glaring clue. Most people schedule looking at kittens into their busy lives and go for things like 'tomorrow after work'.

If you can, get cotton rags under them and ditch the insulation. It might shed sharpish fibers on them. Maybe while mama is enjoying her room service, though she will likely tell you off for touching her babies.

I really get a kick from the mental image of you being their butler. Your cats eat well!! We served our THREE LITTERS of ferals 3 kinds of food too... kitten crunchies, kitten milk replacer, and kitten canned food (plus water). They soon told us when they were ready for refills. :favorites21:

Then we got mom spayed. Later one said, 'he!! no I won't go' so she is spayed and ruling us all, including our large intimidating dog. We spayed her kind of young, but her first heat was so young and noisy and nutty we really had to. Getting pregnant might have killed her that young.

Momma feral remained a yard cat, but after a few months the neighbors across the street started feeding her and we think she is now a housecat with them. She gradually diminished coming to my wife for food, but looking plump and sleek, and now we don't see her.

So from kitty 3rd world she and 3 litters made it to cats with butlers.

I not only appreciate meeper's (the one who stayed) mouse work, she will not suffer a fly to live. She hunts down all insects in the house, and eats most. Even gnats. We used to have a lot of those giant tree roaches. Now we just find the bodies. They must taste awful.

It's great you took in Cat-trena, and a lot of fun to hear about you bringing her steak and watching them on your Cat-TV. Wish you could put it on youtube. Maybe some of our excellent tech guys will get your pics working and maybe video too.

8 kittens!! She really dominoed. They only have 8 nipples and often only 6 with lots of milk. You may have to help out the runts. The old timey way is to just pop off a fat kit and put a runt on the good nipple for a while. The other way is 5 buck a box kitten formula.

QWAK,Room service is NICE but the sign of realy GREAT first class service is geting a MESSAGE as long as one wants and as OFTEN!:yes:

Cat-Trena does not come in the cabin now, that is ware the DOG is and she don't 100% trust him.:36_1_30:

Every time I go out to add wood to the boiler for the DUCK POND she comes runing for cuddles and a MESSAGE that sends her to "YA YA LAND" as in YA YA don't STOP!:111::cry1::shine:

I learned a long time ago that with dogs, cats even people I could sence there feelings as I massaged them and in just a fiew min. They were OFF to "YA YA LAND":yes:

It is ALL about releasing ENDORPHANS and that makes every one feel GOOD (GOD) -- same with GOOD SEX but that is another story for another thread.

It started with rubing her belly wile she was pregnent

Aparently for now and in to the forseable future :111: I will be a DUCK/CAT -- MASSUSE -- I believe she is addicted to the endorphan rush :111:

Duck we could do this the old fashion way.. take some pics on an idisposable camera and have them developed. Send them to me and I will post them..

I do wish you get that problem fixed with the camera. have you tried reinstalling the software. Sometime you will get a glitch and if you reinstall the program it will fix it.

I am CONFUSED :confused_ma: I just removed all the kittens and there are SEVEN! It is official!:36_1_25:

Each got messaged till it stoped crying then returned to the den and Cat-Trena did not even try to take them away from me -- I had to hand herthe first and then shejust watched as each got messaged and returned.

I heard it was best to handle the kittens as soon as posable even befor they open there eyes so they can IMPRINT on people or ME realy.:shine:

The DEN is covered in white plastic (no fiberglass visable) and cat-Trena and the kittens are blavk and white so when I watch them on TV it is like (color camera) watching 1950s TV  "the Cat-Trena and KITTENS" show!:111::4_1_72::shine:

That was a great idea petting each so young. I think the tales that it makes a tamer cat are true. Any creature raised with love is lucky and off to a better start.

I should have known a good butler would not let them crawl on fibers.

Ba, ha, ha, Duck!

EXCEPT that very angry cat is just - well - a Twisted Kitty.

Avalon posted that once, and I asked her to take it down, and she did.

That is not normal behaviour. I do not really find it funny that an animal as disturbed as that one was filmed.

I encountered a cat 'Ginger, alias Fluffy' with similar degrees of mental/emotional and spiritual difficulties once. Hmmm? Had to be seen to be believed. And I am well used to fierce cats.

That cat really is not right in the head, or soul, Duck Egg. Do not display its humiliation. It is the feline equivalent of a Bedlam patient.

Duck,

It sounds insane to say 'possessed' re the Angry Cat, I know.

I have done ferals, I have done Scottish Wild Cat hybrids. I have done sick and hurt ferals etc in enclosed spaces. I have been badly bitten by Wild Cat Hybrids, who tend to bite not claw, have been ripped to bits by ferals cats I have been attempting to medicate. I know full well how nuts they can get from fear and pain.

THEN there was Ginger (alias Fluffy.) That was just INSANE. And, no, Ginger's history did not explain his episodes. I will tell you in private more about Ginger.

That cat reminds me of Ginger. As I told Avalon, that video creeps me out, that cat is, at best, well on mental.

Maxine, her of my pen name, was a full on feral raised whack job, though a pedigree. Her claim to fame was trashing a vet's surgery. But she was NOT like that one in the film.

Max was crazy, crazy, like a witches' kitten, the real historical ones, all grey, not all black. But there is a distinction. While she looked the part, she was not nuts. But Ginger WAS.

That cat in that video is DISTURBING to me, deeply.

When a kitten tries to climb your leg you quickly boost it up and gently massage the paws until kitty pulls them in. They like that. You only have to do that 3-4 times and they learn not to use claws on you.

QWAK,We hit 80 yesterday and I opened the doors to the green house bath and the new room that Cat-Trena and her kittens are in.

Cat-Trena went out to sun her self several times and several WRENS also came in looking to nest like in passed years.

Thomas the cat had convinced them to move out (at least the ones he did not EAT:wink:) Aparently theas WRENS did not get the word -- I told them my self of the DANGER  but they got free will too:yes: and wile I will cut them some slack and make accomidations -- I dbout Cat-Trena and her kittens will!:36_1_30::signs14::shine:

In the passed I helped the new chicks get out of the greenhouse bath when it was time for them to leave the nest. I could usualy catch them befor one of the dogs did or they dround in one of the water projects, but THIS time with 8 cats runing around they will be CAT FOOD for SHURE!:signs14::shine:

Duck Egg,

You know I care for you too much to stay cross with you.

But you misunderstand what I say about Ginger. My error was not to PM you, speak to you, about it.

Two people on here have told me by email or PM, that they find the first angry cat very upsetting. I had asked the opinion of one of them, it was a reply. The other one was spontaneous. And, no, neither of them are Avalon.

Cats, and all other creatures, other than human beings, live most wonderfully 'in the moment'. For better or worse.

When I saw the face on the sad little coon picking up seeds outside my door on Monday in that ice storm thing. What a soaked and unhappy little coon! He will make eye contact with me until I open the door.

I have often looked right into his eyes (he/she?). He is apprehensive, but full of curiosity too. That night he looked just tragic. Soaked and his eyes were so sad. Not 'can you help me?' tragic. Just 'OH NO! All this rain and that weird being that looks at me through the window has noticed me again too! . . . 'All I NEED, on top of this weather! I am OFFSKI!'

I asked Raven Dancer what I should give him. Now I have got FOUR.:shine:

There used to be 4 and I was thinking this one had maybe had his relatives run over. Common fate of coons. I had only seen this one lately.

So glad, not so. Though I know this is not really survival talk. From a human point of view, as they can be little buggers. Much harder than deer to keep out of gardens etc.

Hey. Luv a Duck.:23_1_22::36_3_13:

I had to rubberneck! :s15:

I turned off the kitties giving warning so my cat and dog would not be upset. They hear well enough that they hear my earphones just fine as demonstrated when meeper investigates bird sounds in my headphones.

My beloved deceased cat, with me so long, was like that at the vet, with cause, till we found our current vet. They would ask me to get her from temporary containment myself as she frightened the vet staff.

Her spaying was botched and nearly killed her. The vet kept wanting to keep her (3 days) till I refused to pay if she was not handed over immediately. She would cry for me to come rescue her, and by gum, I had enough and did. (finally!)

So till we found our great home visiting vet she was not happy with those places or the humans there.

But she was otherwise such a sweet cheerful cat.

Saul, thanks for the tip on leg climbers. It sounds like a good way to teach. I yell 'OW!', which is understood too, but your way is much gentler.

PLEASE take it down, Duck?:36_1_32v:

I accidentally played it too last night, as I wanted to read the comments. Some of which I commend. 'WTF? What kind of person would video a cat in this state' etc. Even on dial up the odd shriek got through and Bruno had a FIT. He was running about yowling and looking behind the computer.

Email to me about that:

'I won't watch it again, something very wrong there. The cat is not right.'

A lot more said in that email. Concluded by 'I am going to bed. I just hope I do not dream about that cat!'

I guess Argentos pegged it. I could be like a dog with rag over this.

But don't make it an M/F thing Duck, that is creepy, bad stuff. That cat is being tormented and is already well away. Who would video that critter and say 'FUNNY'? And look where it was being kept? CAGE.

Sorry, :signs14:I HATE that video. I see few, that one aghast me, when it was put on here, by mistake, some months ago, and I watched it.

The other angry cats are just angry, that one is indecent. Probably by no fault of its own.

Hey Duck Egg!

I really think my new meds work!

My father said today on phone 'Do you see any behavioural changes? Since you took the new medication?' Re the bloody thyroid.

'Like what?' one thinks and says. Irritating sort of have to speak to relatives day.

He says 'Like do you feel more like getting up and washing the dishes.':4_1_72: I think it could take several months or more on these meds before a compulsive desire to wash dishes arises. OR YEARS!

Nope. But I noticed today that I really managed to burn the hell out of the Jeep to get to the shop to get cigs! NOW that IS progress. I also note my sense of instant deep sarcasm appears to be recovered a bit tonight.

I think I AM a bit better!:shine:

This should be good fun on GIM, as I have always been a bit dopey on here, to date.

We have been playing "HIDE the KITTENS" and let the DUCK -- try to FIND them!:111::4_1_72:

First she moved them out of her den in the insolated filter cover. I looked in one morning and they were just GONE!:questionm:questionm:questionm:questionm:ques tionm:questionm:dontknow:

Took me about 30 mi. to find them inside the greenhouse bath -- only did because they were PEEPING like little chickens ever so often!

she put them in the antique ICE BOX I turned in to a modern refrigerator -- good thing I did not put the doors back on 20+ years ago when I moved it here!:36_1_25: Almost had to stand on my head to see ware they were at and another 10 min. moving stuff so I could get to them!:15_1_70v:

Later that day she prances past me with one in her mouth -- just like she does with dead rats -- out to the porch and out the DOG/CAT door and around the corner behind a 55 gal barrel by the side of the cabin in a nest of dry leaves. I helped her move the last 5 to ware she liked better than the NEST I had made for her and her kits. FREE WILL for CATS -- if it is good for a DUCK -- must be good for CATS too! I'm just here to help -- IF I can!:shine:

She had her meals served on the VERANDA with an excelent view all the way down to the mail box on the road. The second night out there it RAINED --- I went out to check -- I got wet but her and the kits were high and dry-- she picked a good spot!:4_1_72:

This morning I go down to check the mail and Cat-Trena followed me half way to the mail box -- I figure she is hungry SO I open a can of "SPECIAL KITTY" and fill a bowl of MILK and set her table on the VERANDA.

I look in the corner for the kits and -- ALL GONE!:questionm:questionm:questionm

I think she has them up under the front porch -- but I can see them.:452:

It's like EASTER when I was about 6 or 7 -- looking for the hard boiled colored EGGS!:111:

When I was about 14 I was coming down from the attic and hapened to NOTICE on the desk next to the stairs -- in the top of a desk lamp no one EVER used --- a VERY OLD PINK EASTER EGG -- Mom hid that one REAL GOOD --- just like she did my BB GUN!:111::4_1_72::shine:

I don't think anyone I know does them anymore. :bear_cry:

QWAK,UP date on the kittens and a NEW ADDITION!:s1:

They are all strong and aparently healthy and STARTING to MIGRATE around and discover the world!

I have been handeling them daily and decided they should also get imprinted on the DOG too.:36_1_25::111::4_1_72::shine:

We had a STORM come threw last Thursday -- RAIN and HAIL and forcast of more cold and we even got some FREEZING RAIN and a fiew inches of SNOW over Sat in to Sun.:36_1_63:

Just after the HAIL when things calmed down I went out to my shop for some welding wire and was SUPRISED to see a little Begle puppie runing around and no coller or tags and no one aparently owns him. :dontknow::36_3_13:

At first I thought it could be Lonsome Girls GHOST :36_3_13: I called it and it came running to me so OF CORSE I took him in!:36_3_13:

Cat-Trena got in his FACE almost instently -- SCARED the HELL out of him and Little Trouble (old Dog) was/is not real happy about the pup either.

Saturday I had the WHOLE BUNCH in bed with me:yes: and it went OK except for a little HISSING till Cat-Trean decided to accept the situation as long as I supervised.

Sunday we did it agen for about 4 hours!

Aparently Cat-Trena will NOW have "DAY CARE" help because Little Trouble is totaly fascinated by the kittens and spent the afternoon "HERDING KITTENS" and licking and cleaning them and Cat-Trean was OK with that -- she just cuddeled up with me and watched then took a NAP till it was time to feed them agen.

Trouble found out INSTENTLY -- nuzeling the kittens wiled being fed is a real BIG "NO NO" and had CAT in the FACE instently!:36_1_25::4_1_72:

The pup is scared of Cat-Trena,and the dog and the kittens TOO :111::cry1:it acts like the kittenss have "COOTIES" and it don't want to CATCH THEM!:452:

"NO no -- don't let THEM touch ME -- PLEASE" -- seems to be his position on CATS and KITTENS!:36_1_25::111:

I have started calling him "STORM" and he comes when called:yes:

If no one clames him he has a home but with 7 kittens AND a PUP, PLUS Cat-Trena and Little Trouble --- I will probably be TOTALY CRAZY by the time we get to mid summer!:confused_ma::yes::yes::yes:

I guess that's OK as CRAZY has sort of become MY NORMAL!:confused_ma::yes::111::4_1_72::shine:

I will just try to INJOY the INSANITY!:shine:

QWAK,Max,I just got back from the store,I was only gone about 1/2 Hr. --- been a long time since I had a pup around:yes: ---- I had and stress HAD a stack of catalogs --- SHREDED -- like a PAPER BOMB went off :36_1_25::111::4_1_72:

Storm (what I am calling him) is pure PUPPY ENERGY!!! IF I could find a way to PLUG in to it --- I am shure I could go totaly OFF GRID!

He ran to the door jumped up and huged my leg -- sort of saying "I LOVE YOU and I MISED YOU!" --- aparently he did because it looked like he aranged a TICKER TAPE paraide to come threw -- just for ME!:36_1_25::23_31_2:

I don't even want to THINK :452::452::452: what Storm and 7 kittens could and likely WILL DO!:confused_ma:

Sounds like fun, Duck. Lol!:36_1_25:

And the kittens will be called?:

Typhoon,
Tornado,
Lightning,
Cyclone,
Blizzard,
Fire
Brimstone

Or perhaps:

Riot,
Disaster,
Mayhem,
Chaos,
Terror,
Ruin,
Tribulation (Trib. for short)

Otherwise you could go for irony in the 'Binky' sort of vein:

Fluffy,
Poppet,
Trixie,
Cuddles,
Sweetie,
Tiddles,
Mitten

I think you will just have to spend your summer in the pond, it'll be the only safe place. :bath::bear_tongue:

QWAK,Last evening Storm made the mistake of going looking for Cat-Trena and her kits :yes:befor I noticed he had sliped away.

I then heard a sound of puppy terror and pain :111: and instently knew just what he had done.:shine:

I QWAKED UP in histerical laughter because THIS music started playing in my mind.:111::4_1_72::shine:

I expect there will be lots of that going on here at the DUCK NEST in the coming days!:36_1_25::111::4_1_72::shine:

I love that song, Duck Egg. Meant to say that to you when you first posted it upon your happy return.:36_3_12:

Poor old Cat-trena, she did not realize, consciously, that her karma, or rather the karma of her brood, was intimately tied up with that of Beagles.:452:

I guess you will just have to wait to see how the little kit mits' personalities develop before you can start to assign names. Maybe they'll take after Mom?

Ripper,
Slasher,
Claws,
Tiger,
Shredder,
Fang,
Wren Eater

Names are often assigned too young to kittens. Paula was once 'Paul'. A little girl named all the kittens in that litter for me. Apart from the sexing error (the little girl was actually correct, it was a vet that wrongly told me, after the little girl had named her, that 'Paul' was a boy) Paul/Paula means 'little one'. Ha, ha, ha! THAT she ain't!

She called Bruno after the boxer, as he looks rather fierce, the most like his wild and crazy feral/wild cat hyrbid dad of the whole litter. Bruno is a world class whimp.'The cellar cat.' 'Oooh! Run a way! Hide, hide!'

I was going to call Zahir 'Typhoon' when I got him. And I should have done! That is exactly what he is like the Tazmanian Devil in the cartoon. 'You are like a hurricane, there's calm in your eye.' Zahir means 'radiant' in Arabic, as a Turkish Angora I thought he should have an Arabic name. Since he is mostly black, it does sort of suit him, he is darkly radiant. He is a very lovely cat to see, just very naughty with it! He is a Typhoon with grace and style!

I was thinking Duck, since Cat-rena is the mom, you could look up other lethal hurricane names, by sex, once you have an idea of who is which, for the little ones.

Sexing kittens is a bugger though, you'll get at least one wrong - until it either pees in your closet or comes home preggers.

Maxine, the Russian Blue, was originally a Max. When I was a kid we had a Mandy who turned out to be an 'Andy', when he peed onmy father's ski boot. But he did not take to being called 'Andy', the revelation came too late, so he had to be 'a boy named Sue' all his life. Used to confuse the vets.:111:

I see a black truck! Claude arrives! Squeak soon!

QWAK, Max,I had the same problem with "Thomas" --- First named him "THOMASENA" as he was incredably gentle and loving and got along fine with the DOGS -- even slept with Jasper as he was dieing of Cancer!

Jasper seemed to feel some how better with Thomas sleeping close to him --even in his blindness!:shine:

What do I know about CAT SEX organs?:questionm:dontknow: NOTHING-- I'm a DUCK!:stupid:

One day as (SHE) was geting snugled which (SHE) loved and totaly INJOYED every chance (SHE) could get -- I noticed somthing STRANGE :hahaha: --- I thought (SHE) had passed a WORM:yes::111::4_1_72: as (SHE) had befor  only when I looked closer --- IT was NOT a WORM -- IT was an "ERECTION" :36_1_30::yes::36_1_25::4_1_72::shine:

Kittens doing FINE all 7 and are NOW geting VERY ACTIVE and I think Cat-Trena has even given up keeping them in a "kiten ball" --- can't be done :452: they only ball up when THEY want to and "EXPLORING" is FUN!:111::36_1_25:

The PUP is in to DISCOVERY TOO, but mostly -- HOW does THIS TAIST when I CHEW on IT:questionm:111::4_1_72::shine:

The blankets are also fun -- but ONE is an ELECTRIC blanket -- fact is ALL them electric WIRES look like TAISTY things to CHEW!:452::452::452: Bad STORM!!:36_1_30: BAD -- don't DO that -- YOU won't LIKE IT and neither will I! :452::452:

Military Boxes of preps with KEYS to the LOCKS hanging on the SIDE are interisting TOO --- WHO would have THOUGHT a PUP would CHEW off the KEY and EAT IT? Not ME!:452:

I had a cheep set of plastic glasses I got the first year at the DUCK NEST -- totaly worthless cheep --actualy FREE -- plastic glasses ---I started with 4 and over the years one by one they broke but I use the glasses virtualy daily -- been down to one -- the LAST one, for about two years.

It was sort of a project to see how long I could make the 4 last --- no big thing just a silly little project --- I NOW KNOW -- from 1988 to 2009!

I was only GONE for an HOUR --- the plastic glass was "PLASTIC CONFETTIE" I don't think I could have done IT my self with my sheet metle sheers.:452: HOW did HE do THAT:questionm:dontknow::confused_ma: There is NO "WHY" he IS a PUPPY!:4_1_72::shine:

I will NOW use the security cameras and the RECORDER to SEE what happens when I am NOT there -- not that it will make ANY difference at all -- because most of the other things happened when he was right next to me --- took me a wile to notice -- I was focused on other things -- just for a wile.

Hey, Argentos, me too!

My mother took a course on how to make painted eggs when I was about 6. We lived in Western Canada then, a lot of folk out there are Russian Orthodox Church and can do full on gorgeous painted eggs.

To make them live for ever you are supposed to suck the insides out with a straw after the paint and just save the shell.

Years later, I was living in a house, looking after a pet for a lady, and there was this reek from a cupboard. I thought a sewage pipe had broken. Painted eggs! Pretty designs . . . With black stuff coming out of them! There was a picture on her fridge of herself and her child painting very same eggs -date about 5 years prior!

Er - yuk!

Guess they forgot about the removing insides bit!

QWAK,Max,My grand mother on fathers side "Russian Orthodox" made the most beautifull PURPLE easter egges you ever saw using NOTHING but a pin, some candel wax and vinagar and purple cabbage.

Mom passed the fiew eggs (shells) that survived on to my sisters dauter in a glass display case.

The intricet design is applied to the raw egg shell, by heating the pin head and tiney amounts of wax in dots and short strokes then the egg submerged in the vinager with purple cabbage solution -- each time egg is diped and dried the stain gets deeper in to shell and more wax dots added so dots very in amount of whitness in suceeding levels.

When all of egg is covered in the desired dot pattern it is droped in HOT WATER wax comes off and a pin hole placed in both ends of the egg -- inside SCRAMBLED with the pin and insides SUCKED OUT! :thinkey:

SUCK an EGG for JESUS!:36_1_25::111::4_1_72::shine::yes:

The empty shell can last for a very long time IF properly protected.

Each of us kids took the eggs to school when we were young for "Show and tell" only 4 1/2 egg shells survived from the original 12 Grand mother made and Laura my Nease has them!:shine:

As kids we just did HARD BOILD colored eggs -- we broke the shells and would eat the eggs for EASTER breakfast!:s1::15_1_70v:

Morning, Duck Egg,

I was wondering how you were getting on with the fuzz buzzes. That is novel them starting to use you for a litter box.:4_1_72:

Maybe they are scent marking you? Actually, you shouldn't tolerate that. I don't suppose you have a litter box, or want one, but put them in the place where you wish them to pee when they pee on you. Preferably somewhere Cat-rena pees herself so can smell that and they get the drift that that is a pee place. They are probably a little young to catch on yet, and mistakes will continue for a while.

What did you do about the dog crate for the pup? Did you get one the other day?

I didn't notice until now your question about sexing kittens. If it has a : under the anus then it is a male, if it looks more like a ! it is a female. Though it can be hard to tell sometimes.

It's pouring with rain here today and Zahir does not like it. He is keeping me very busy as his doorman. Yang, yang, yang!

QWAK,Max,Cat-Trena has a very nice -- I think you call it a "Lue" ? and has had since she came to the DUCK NEST. She was an out side CAT so she was very IMPRESSED!:111:

I found it when I was SCROUNGING after I got CRUNCHED and brought it home for my first cat 'KITTY" that got eaten by a HAWK here at the DUCK NEST.:favorites21::36_1_25:

It is much biger than a standard cat box and COVERED:yes: has a big round hole to climb threw. It contains the smell better which I apreciate but STILL STINKS BAD!!:36_1_25:

I located it all the way at the front ofthe BATH GREEN HOUSE by the pond and ware I built a cat/dog door and near the BIG EXHAUST FAN too!

There are a lot of water hazzards , deep cravases and other places to get in to trouble between the BOX and the NEST -- the addition is more than twice the size of the original cabin.:s1: It is just NOT finished and nothing is set up so it all works all at the same time.:452:

Excerpts from Kittie’s Daily Diary

Day 983 of my captivity..

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are
fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt
for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in
order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my
dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on
the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body
at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts,
since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they
merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I
am. Bastards. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices
tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the
event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I
overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I
must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage. Today
I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try
this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and
snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly
released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe
him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he
reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody
for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now................

They woke up hungry and decided to try to milK a PUPPY :111::4_1_72::shine:

I got up and searched for Cat-Trena with flash light in hand and -- she was out HUNTING and did not come even when I shouted -- she is a CAT -some times she comes when I call.

I tried moving the 4 kits to the box but as fast as I could get back and in to bed all 4 were agen climbing up the side of the bed like Mareans in a WW2 movie on landing nets on the side of the ships!

Storm was trying to REPELL all BORDERS by LIckiNG tHeM off the edge of the BED/cliff but was SOON --over welmed and forced to SURENNDER!:111::4_1_72::shine:

Just about THEN Cat-trena shows up  Drops offa RAT to the 3 kits in the box -- hops up on the bed lays down and starts nursing the 4 hungry kits who Ignore the Pup and rush to Mom for a meal!:111:

Start to finish about 1/2 Hr. but enough to TOTALY change Storms MIND about CATS!

For the last fiew hours the kits that were in the box migrated to under the wood stove ware it is nice and warm but as the woke up HUNgry we have a Very diferent senerio going on!:shine:

As each emerges from under the stove Storm the PUPcatches them in his MOUth carriesthem to the bed -- jumps up on the bed -- licks and cleans them Head to toe and intertains them untill Cat-trena is ready to recieve them!

That is lovely, Duck Egg, glad you have got a truce going on between the kittens and the pup.

Get some wormer! All this prey Cat-rena has been eating and is now feeding to them. They'll be infested. Not just tapeworms either. You need to get the 'Revolution' type stuff in kitten size - and mother size. I got a cat from a farm whose mother was feeding the litter on rabbits she hunted. He was totally infested throwing up worms, round worms I think.

Since you do have an indoor 'loo' for them you should get another litter tray, put it in a safer place for them, and get them used to using it.

Happy Easter!:shine:

Adolf sounds like he is claiming you. Generally when a litter grows up mom keeps the original territory and makes the kits, once old enough, spread out and claim their own. Peeing marks territory and washing is a kin activity. So I think Adolf is saying 'whatever happens with you other kits, Duck is mine!'

They sound fun. We kept 1 and she is a delight. Spay as soon as you can, and neuter or you will have hundreds of cats very soon and the boys will spray mark your house into a very stinky mess.

You can get worm pills for tape and round worms very inexpensively from online vet supply stores. The biospot brand of flea and tick protection is less expensive and can be bought here. IMO the collars are bad news. We rotate advantage and biospot, but we only have 2. And in winter they get a break from that stuff.

I suppose we notice the price of drugs more than you because of our National Health Service, which supplies medicines to children, unemployed on benefits and old codgers like me for free and to the average working adult at a fixed price per item. If the fixed price is more than the pharmacist would charge we can pay the lower price, but may have to ask as it's not compulsory for the pharmacist to tell you.

I haven't had any pets since I owned an internet computer, but there are plenty of sites like this in the UK.

Yes, all of this new generation of fleaand tick treatment, advantage, frontline, and biospot, are expesive, but biospot less than half the others. You won't need them in winter probably, but the vet said our 1st feral litter were close to vampired to death. And you just don't want your bedmates covered in ticks anyway.

QWAK,argentos,I am extreamly sencitive to the EXPLOITATION of all the aspects of HEALTH CARE on ALL levels!:rant:

Hmmm. I agree with you to some extent, Duck, but there are downsides to "free" healthcare.

I saw a TV programme the other week where there was an archive clip of a Doctor from the days of the changeover (1948) from 'private or charity' to 'private or National Health'. He and his colleagues had been staggered by the number of new patients who had come forward in the first couple of years. They had thought that everyone who needed it already got treatment one way or another.

He particularly noted the droves of men with longstanding hernia and women with prolapsed uterus, previously unable to afford treatment and unwilling to accept charity from reasons of pride.

Nowadays things have gone pearshaped. Some people attend A&E for the slightest scratch, call ambulances for headaches and bother their doctors with cold symptoms. Because it's all free, they take the p*ss.

Then there's the cost of medical malpractice lawsuits. In recent years, for some demented* reason (as it was perfectly clear what had happened in the USA as a result of such schemes) we have allowed lawyers to take cases on a no win, no fee basis. It all costs millions directly and forces doctors to order all sorts of expensive and unnecessary tests and examinations.

*Any allegations that there are more lawyers in the House of Commons than you can shake a stick at will be strenuously denied, no doubt.

http://www.bobrivers.com/#v8652

Little "Coal" has a friend  Storm pickes it up and carries it off -- no harm and Coal seems to like the attention -- go figure . I recoreded the strange activity -- Storm did not want to give that kit back!:452:

little Adolf cuddles with me more often than any of the others OFTEN prefering to be with me over the kitty ball or Mom --in less it is time to eat.

Could be he/she has CLAMED ME:dontknow:

It is fun to watch all thease little MINDES grow expotentialy and merging with the pup also a clean slate just basic INSTINCTS only the pup is about 1 year old.

I don't want to stop Storm carring Coal around as long as he is gentle --- just don't want him PULLING arms and LEGS off and eating them :36_1_30::452:--like the Kits do chipmonks -- that would be LEARNING the WRONG lesson :36_1_30:--- perhaps Cat-Trena is teaching Storm MORE than just RESPECT?:questionm:dontknow:

Kitty tought Lonsome the Begle to be a good MOUSER!

Not geting much work done but having FUN learning from the KIDS!:shine:

Hi Duck Egg,

I found a site where you can get that Bio-Spot cheaper. I am going to post it so that AM for PM and anyone else who uses that brand for their cats has the link.

http://www.lambertvetsupply.com/Cat-...k-Products.php

3 vials for $11.95
two strengths, cats over 5lbs and cats under 5lb

Frankly, Duck, this is a VERY good price for this stuff.

There are other, and possibly cheaper, ways of dealing with fleas, long term. But you have a two pronged problem there, at present. Your primary problem is you have a hunting queen, Cat-rena, who was unwormed herself, within living memory, you got her from a place who was semi neglecting her. She is now hunting furiously and feeding young kittens on prey, including rats.

WORMS. :36_1_25: WORMS in neon lights! Bad!

Check this site out

http://www.canadavet.com/

I got my cat worm/flea preps from this site. I was very satisfied with them they are FAR cheaper than the price at the vets. The stuff is guaranteed to be brand name, no generic stuff. They are encouraging US customers, and I doubt you will be charged border customs.

The tapeworm pills are the cheapest I have seen.
'Virbac' $1.60 per pill. Cats up to 22 lbs.

If you get a pill cutter, 1/4 pill per kitten would so.

But I would suggest you get yourself a reasonable stock of these pills in, with all this hunting, and also look at the site and get a stock of the equivalent pills for the two dogs.

It is fairly easy to administer a crushed pill to a cat in a defrosted frozen prawn, or a piece of one. (Check they like prawns first)

Re the 'Bio Spot'. That is ONLY for fleas/ticks.

With this problem you have you initially need a 'spot on' type product that does worms AS WELL AS FLEAS.

Would suggest the one called 'Advantage -MULTI' in the US - known as 'Advocate for Cats' on this Canadian vet site.

That will do fleas/ticks and heartworm, hookworm, roundworm, lice and ear mites. It is NOT cheap, but the $116.58 for 12 vials (cats 1-10 lbs), though it may surprise you, is pretty good price for this stuff.

(IT DOES NOT DO TAPEWORM, you need the 'Virbac' for that.)

You also need to get an equivalent for the 2 dogs.

With all this hunting/prey as food the kittens' health will be compromised if you don't do this. Between 9 - 12 weeks first time and then in another 6 weeks or so.

After that you can play it by ear a bit more.

:signs14: But there is no such thing as a 'free cat' as you know.

:15_1_70v:

You should also be supplementing with a good dry kitten food, for the first six months or so. Raven Dancer has been using 'Royal Canin' with good results. It is not cheap. I'll send her the link she can tell you about it.

Being English I have to mention a traditional tale:

Quote:

As a young deacon, the future Pope Gregory the Great saw some fair-haired children in the Roman slave market. On enquiring what race they were, he was told they were Angles. Impressed by their appearance, Gregory replied "Non angli, sed angeli" - "Not Angles but angels".

A mission to the land of the Angles became his lifelong ambition.

About thirty years later Gregory was pope and in 597 he sent the future Saint Augustine on a mission to convert the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England.

Ethelbert of Kent, whose wife Bertha was Christian, received the monks politely but cautiously. He listened to Augustine's message and allowed him to proceed to Canterbury to preach there without hindrance.

A few months later Ethelbert accepted the new faith and was baptised.

Probably cheaper solution than the cats! TA, I am sure would appreciate it. To quote Argentos, 'Not angels but . . . ' Well fill, in the blank!

I'll make you a list Duck, by email. I said I would. But I wanted to post the links here, in case they are of use to anyone.

Believe me, having had some dreadful adventures with flea treating cats with various sprays, and even shampooing some cats prior to this 'spot on stuff'. It is worth it!

Jimmy, my original wild cat hybrid, was VERY allergic to fleas indeed. He was a very sick cat, and this had to be dealt with. We had to be TOTALLY flea free. WHAT a nightmare! That spot on stuff did not exist then. I used to have to use this dreadful stuff that came in a pump bottle, looked like a hair dressing product and made all the cats look, and act, like VERY angry punk rockers.

When Maxine, my namesake, the Russian Blue, was young, with the help of a neighbour we were trying to restrain her, she was totally feral, and pump this stuff all over her. She got loose and she climbed me and was on my head and she lacerated my scalp quite badly.

I also tried to treat another feral for ear mites to the end result that my hand looked like I had stuck it down a garbage disposal unit. Though I am concerned about the chemicals in this stuff, from the cat's point of view, and use it as little as possible, and I agree with you it is over priced, it is still a HUGE step forward. Especially if you are trying to deal with a lot of cats, or ferals.

Without it?!!!!! Good luck!

By the way introducing garlic into their diet will help with worms. But it will not rid you of an initial infestation, which you can bet you have got, right now.

You also need to bear in mind that you are in a region of potential risk for heartworm for the dogs. Contracted by mosquito bites. That is very disabling and expensive to treat. Beagles seem to be rather at risk, or at least the very bad stories I have heard related to Beagles.

I'll email you.:36_3_12:
